Tip #84 23 people found helpful 1 List

If your running shoe folds easily it is likely time for a new pair.

The real test of whether or not a running shoe should be replaced is assessing the condition of the midsole (the thick white part above the black outsole). This can be done simply by taking one shoe off and trying to bend/fold the front/forefoot area of the shoe. If the shoe folds easily with minimal exertion, it's likely your midsole is compressed and the shoe needs to be replaced as the cushioning, support, and guidance of the shoe is compromised.
